My weekly choice of the best reads, views and listens | Palestine is Still the Issue #48
Welcome to the first edition of the new format weekly newsletter.
This free weekly post to my Substack will focus purely on recommending reading, viewing and listening on the subjects that interest me — which, as always, are not exclusively related to Palestine. The new format is likely to evolve and change over time, so let me know in the comments section if you have feedback.
As I outlined earlier this month, my original Substack articles and my recent media appearances will from now on appear in separate posts. This weekly “Recommended” post will remain free, but I am going to start putting more original content behind the paywall. So consider subscribing, if you can afford to support my journalism:
p.s. I decided to carry on numbered issues after all. So this marks issue #48. Thanks to all my readers for this first year of support, encouragement and feedback — here’s to many years more.
My Articles
“How Owen Jones learned to stop worrying and love Zionism” — This is part three of a loose sort of trilogy exposing Owen Jones’ perfidy.
“Israel lobby demands Lowkey be deleted by Spotify” — The lobby’s war against the rapper and Palestine solidarity campaigner continues.
Around the Web
“How Glasgow university smeared its own journal as anti-Semitic” — David Miller’s latest article for The Electronic Intifada.
“Israel lobby group ADL rehabilitates Hitler’s accomplices in Ukraine” — Ali Abunimah for The Electronic Intifada.
“Western rush to ban everything Russian, from cats to Dostoevsky, smacks of totalitarianism” — Joseph Massad’s article on Russia boycotts.
“How Ukraine’s Jewish president Zelensky made peace with neo-Nazi paramilitaries on front lines of war with Russia” — Alex Rubinstein and Max Blumenthal’s investigative piece expose the the influence of Nazism in Ukraine.
“Permission to Narrate” — Listen to Ali Abunimah’s insightful discussion on The East is a Podcast, about the changing online media climate since The Electronic Intifada began more than two decades ago.
“Challenging the West's Superiority Complex & Erasure of History” — Watch Joseph Massad’s brilliant discussion with Rania Khalek on the true historical context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It’s also worth reading Ali Abunimah’s short article giving some extra context to the video.
You can now read Palestine is Still the Issue and other Substack newsletters in the new Substack app for iPhone and iPad. I’ve tried it out myself as a reader and it seems pretty good:
With the app, you’ll have a dedicated Inbox for my Substack and any others you subscribe to.
The Substack app is currently available for iOS. If you don’t have an Apple device, you can join the Android waitlist here.
