All my latest reads and views for your weekend | Palestine is Still the Issue #49
Here’s my choice of the best things I’ve read, listened to and watched from around the web this week. Don’t forget to subscribe and share:
My Work This Week
“Wretch 32 and Anwar Hadid reject Israel lobby bid to delete Lowkey” — Some famous faces backed the rapper and Palestine solidarity campaigner against Israel lobby censorship.
“Lowkey petition to Spotify grabs 4,000 signatures in first three hours” — As of this writing on Friday, more than 26,500 people have signed. If you still haven’t signed, you can find the petition here.
WATCH: Democratic Socialists of America purges Palestine solidarity; And a discussion on imperialist sanctions vs. BDS — All in Episode 52 of The Electronic Intifada Podcast:
WATCH: Whitewashing Ukraine’s Nazis — On Episode 53 of the podcast, Ali Abunimah discusses Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech to Israel’s parliament and the geopolitical implications of the war in Ukraine. I also give an overview of Operation Gladio and its relevance today:
From Around the Web
“Lies, Secret Recording and Parakeets: The Israel Lobby’s Dirty War Against Lowkey” — MintPress News lays out the contours of the recent campaign against rapper and campaigner Lowkey.
“Israel seeks revenge after Palestinian kills 5 near Tel Aviv” — My EI colleague Tamara Nassar explains why Israeli claims about Palestinians having “ISIS links” should be treated with extreme scepticism.
“Israel kills 3 Palestinians, including teen” — And read Tamara’s latest report from yesterday to keep up with current fast-moving events in Palestine. An Israeli death squad killed two Palestinians in Jenin, including a 16-year-old boy. Israel has killed more than two dozen Palestinians in 2022 so far.
“Why is Ukraine the West's Fault?” — John Mearsheimer’s 2015 lecture gives a brilliant overview of the real background to the current war in Ukraine (which in my view really started in 2014, not this year).
