Did the BBC know about the death of Britain’s unelected head of state Queen Elizabeth II before it was officially announced at 6.30pm yesterday?

Watching the live news coverage which took over the schedules of the main five British terrestrial TV channels soon after midday yesterday (six hours before her death was announced) the whole tenor of the coverage was highly controlled.

It was British regime TV in full effect. BBC One suspended its regular programming entirely.
