NYT subscribers, such as myself, are deliberately misled by NYT "news" items that feature Israel or Palestine. This carefully researched investigation by Asa Winstanley makes public the deliberate falsehoods pushed into print by NYT editors, over even the rarely voiced public objections of NYT's own reporters. Every NYT reader must assume the extra burden of assuring that NYT falsehoods do not become the reader's "facts."

The NYT is simply imperialist propaganda. You should unsubscribe.

It is important to know what the enemy are publishing, which is why I keep my subscription for now. And the recipes, of course.

Dont subscribe to the NY Times. Its a pack of lies and propaganda that you are financially sponsoring there, not news.

As with many so-called 'antisemitism' incidents going as far back as UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and accusations against him and other Labour Party members spurious, deceitful and untrue antisemitism charges will have been bandied and thrown about like confetti as appears the same continues today.

One of the greatest achievements of the Israel lobby has been to conflate anti-Zionism with antisemitism in public discourse. It is brilliantly, diabolically effective, as it immediately shuts down any discussion, especially in countries like the Netherlands, where antisemitism has deeply traumatic historical associations.

Holland was one of the countries that worked to protect its Jewish population during the Third Reich. It is famous for doing that despite the existence of many anti-semites in the countries. That is historical fact.

Expand full comment

Yes, this is correct, but please realize that still a very high percentage of the Jewish population was nonetheless deported and did not survive. Amsterdam, where I live, had a pre-war Jewish population of around 80,000, of which only 5,000 survived the concentration camps. These are also historic facts.

Of course. It gets the desired results.

Thinking back to the Jeremy incident, it all makes sense to me now, and then some.

Get ‘em, Asa!!! Brilliant reporting, as always ✌️✌️✌️

TL;DR The NYT knows full well that they won't like the results of that investigation.

If the NYT were to investigate Jews spitting on Christians in Jerusalem (as reported by times of Israel) they would probably write that it was merely orthodox Jews clearing their throats in the presence of paranoid Christians

Expand full comment

The Orthodox Jews get spit on by the Zionists in Jerusalem. There have been many videos of Zionists abusing Orthodox Jews in Israel, beating them up, etc., because they refuse to join the IDF and also because they sympathize with the Palestinians.

By @RyanRozbiani yesterday.

"Amsterdam Mayor Halsema admits that she made a mistake when she described what happened in her city as a 'pogrom' against Jews." At 2min30sec she says that Israel seized the narrative when at 3am Netanyahu himself "suddenly gave a lecture about what had happened in Amsterdam while we were still collecting the facts."

Doesn't matter. The damage is already done. Sorta like Bush administration officials admitting that maybe Iraq wasn't quite chock full of WMD, but only after they already got the war that they so craved.

Expand full comment

The damage has been done, but the truth coming out, albeit gradually, does matter, as the long-term impact on the trustworthiness and credibility of our elected officials is real. Propaganda based on vicious lies is not sustainable.

Expand full comment

Not really. The US government and MSM continue to lie with total impunity.

And some of us at least know that they are doing it. I hope we are finding a way out of this dangerous and ever-spiraling web of mis- and disinformation. The absence of moral compass is seriously disturbing, not to mention dystopian

If you scroll on any EI note or restack to the Related Notes section you will see the problem: as convinced everyone here is of the truth of the EI note, the other side are convinced of the opposite. It’s a binary system, two mirror images. How TF do we smash the mirror? Appealing to facts does not work. Debunking does not work. Not arguing nor appealing to basic humanity. Genocide is denied. Calling it that, or failing to call out other world violence is immediately antisemitic. Any ideas?

Mainstream outlets like the NY Times once strove to present at least the image of impartiality and objectivity, even if they fell short in various ways. Now they don't even try. The NY Times does "advocacy journalism", as its own editor-in-chief admitted a few years ago. They have a specific audience whose biases, prejudices, and perspectives they continually reinforce. That's the business model.

Among the many mostly good things that have died, irretrievably, probably, since the Genocide in Gaza is the honour and

credibility of the so-called mainstream media. The unique status of Israel and Israelis to commit any violation of human rights and any law anywhere in the world without official condemnation, at least in the West, marks a deep descent into hypocrisy and falsehood that will be very difficult to escape from without massive, radical change in society to re-establish truth and integrity.

Expand full comment

Whatever honor or credibility the mainstream media ever had was gone a long time ago. This is not something that just started happening recently. The entire purpose of the mainstream media is to deceive the people. That is why we must support independent journalists as much as we can.

I refuse to watch the news or read a newspaper, here in the UK, I believe they spin or lie about most things.

Craig Mokhiber, until recently, was a top U.N. official working on human rights. He just left his post with a scathing resignation letter blasting U.N. and Western complicity in Israeli abuses.

Here, he sums up this developing situation regarding the psychotic behaviour being evinced by the Zionists, in Amsterdam but also in Palestine, particularly clearly in his Twitter post of November 13th 2024:

This is just sickening. I’ve followed Nicolas Kristof for over 30 years and think he is one of the most powerful prophetic voices to America, so I’ve had a subscription to the NYT for a long time. But enough. I’m writing a letter of protest to the Times and canceling my subscription. I hope their coverage of Israel this past year has hurt them financially by losing thousands of readers.
